The purpose of this Social Problems Portfolio research project is to give you the opportunity to apply the course material by focusing on any social problem or issue mentioned in the course that you have some interest in exploring further.
You will acquire some useful skills such as identifying peer-reviewed scholarly articles and locating reliable sources of information using Pima Library resources and publicly available search engines such as Google Scholar. You will be applying sociological perspectives to enhance an understanding of the social world. At the end of the semester, you will know quite a bit about your social problem, and will share your review of the findings to your classmates.
You will use the information that you have gathered to create a final product in the form of an information pamphlet or visual presentation. This way we can all learn from the collective research efforts of the class. After this project, you will have a much better unde
rstanding of your chosen social problem and how to independently interpret and analyze past, present, and future social problems or issues. These skills can be utilized in a variety of ways, both in your professional and private life.

Introductory Statement: You will write this in Module 8
Updated Mind Map: You will create your initial mind map in Module 2, and then update it in Module 8.
Revised Annotated Bibliography: You will create one half of your annotated bibliography in Module 4, and the second half in Module 6. Then you’ll combine and revise them in Module 8.
Final Artifact: You will start working on this in Module 7 and finish it in Module 8.
