The most common reason to become a teacher is that it is an easy option. The OP points students used to get and currently the ATAR points we are getting are way less than other academic subjects such as doctors and engineering. For example, according to Griffith University programs such as a bachelors in Biomedical Science, the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) point is 96 whereas for a bachelors in Education, the ATAR point is 69.35 (Griffith University, n.d.). It makes scientist and doctor degrees more important and valuable careers than educators. Personally, I believe it is totally dumb and unreasonable. Teachers are the people who must know all these matters to be able to educate students rightfully. Or at least be the expert in the subject they teach. Teaching is an important matter as it changes the learners life in one way or another. The ATAR points for a bachelors in Education show the importance of us the students and their teachers to be. Are people who produce these points and degrees considering the issues that their restrictions causing, or is it a personal choice they are making?
As the ATAR point are pretty low for education, it became a backup plan for people who do not have enough points for other courses. Teaching require
s more attention, motivation, and guts to receive love and respect from students. We are NOT toys to play with for a moment and leave when you are bored or cant handle. As I mentioned, all teachers are different like different smells, these teachers who are toying with us smell bad that we want to get away from them as soon as they appear. We students want to respect and treat teachers the way they should be treated, however, would you want to, if someone is screaming and yelling at you with scary eyes or being sarcastic and mocking you in a way? Not all of these teachers are like this, some beautiful teachers actually care and see how we are still children who need the care and guidance of the adults in our lives. One of the examples of them is Tony Ryan, who only did a teaching degree to get a management position in the industry, however during the time he spent with these whole different teens with different stories and backgrounds, it challenged and interested him. As he took the challenges, he started to improve and moved up positions from teacher to deputy headship. Challenges continued as he mentioned. Students are challenging teachers and schoolwork is challenging the students. We are all here to improve ourselves, neither complain nor hate.
