Topic:
Civil Right and Civil Liberties: A Study of Religious Freedom and Child Protection
Develop an introduction to a paper and offer a thesis statement as to your position. Which side of the issue are you taking? (Riding the fence is not an option.)
You should include an example (properly cited) from one of the articles ****MUST BE FROM ARTICLES IN THE ATTACHMENT** that illustrates your point.
Briefly recap the example. State who was involved, where it happened, when it happened, what were the specific, and how the issue resolved, if it has resolved. You should not reiterate every, little detail. Think big picture in your introduction.
You will then need to state your position. In stating your position, you must make it clear to the reader which side of the issue you are on. Do NOT ride the fence. Take a clear position.
In taking your position, you should not write, “I think,” “I believe,” “My position is,” or something lik
e that. If I say, “I think Chick-fil-A is the best food restaurant,” that is weaker than saying, “Chick-fil-A is the best fast food restaurant.” State your position with confidence, as though it were fact.
This should be 200-300 words (one to two paragraphs).
To be successful, you should do the following:
Include a brief example that illustrates the question and your position.
Have a clear thesis statement that states your position.
Be properly formatted.
Have proper grammar and writing style.
Include citations.
Submit your introduction to the paper with a clear thesis statement that indicates your position on the issue. This should be no more than two (2) paragraphs. This should introduce the topic under consideration by giving an example that illustrates the issue. This should also pose the constitutional questions that come into play. Finally, this should state clearly your position on the issue.
